It’s been three years in the offing and now the renovations at Springdale country club are poised to be completed.

When Zan and Lex West of Springdale Golf Partners, LLC purchased Springdale three years ago, they envisioned a premier golf resort nestled near Cold Mountain. Zan and Lex own property in Waynesville and have been playing golf at the club for years. The groundbreaking for the new clubhouse was March 12, 2020.

Renovations of the golf course have already been completed and include a new irrigation system tee to green and upgrades to the bunkers. The greens were reseeded and improved, and work on the cart paths will be done by the grand opening.

Scheduled to open in September, the new facilities will also feature a clubhouse, welcome center, fitness center, pool, restaurant and bar.

As part of the celebration, Springdale is accepting new memberships with special incentives.

Memberships are available in three categories, family, single and social with family and single options. Membership benefits include the 24-hour welcoming center with coffee and continental breakfast, club events, year-round tavern dining, fitness center and pool, guest golfing, discounted room rental fees and club emails.

The first 25 new memberships in each category will receive 50% off the initiation fee. Initiation fees are $5,000 for family and single and $2,500 for social memberships.

Director of golf Rodney Russell said the course improvements are on the public’s radar. “We’re getting a lot of play. Golfers know about it and interest has been high.”

Russell is looking forward to the new facilities.

“We’re doing a lot of upgrades to the golf course,” he said. “You can see the pictures of the clubhouse, it’s going to be very nice. It’ll be on the same physical site as as the old clubhouse used to be on. They tore down all the old buildings and are putting up the new ones. The opening is right around the corner. It’ll be here before we know it.”
