Tuscola's Hunter Murphy

PROUD FAMILY — Hunter Murphy is surrounded by his dad, Chad Murphy, seated left and mother, Ondrea Murphy, seated right, along with his grandmother Donna Rathbone. Standing behind are Hunter’s grandparents Mike and Beth Murphy.

Hunter Murphy has signed a letter of intent to play for North Greenville University.

Tuscola’s’ outstanding lineman, Hunter Murphy, will play for North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina, come fall. The Crusaders play in the Conference Carolinas.

The signing ceremony was held April 28 in Tuscola’s gymnasium. A large crowd of friends, family, teammates and students applauded the signing.

“It’s one of the greatest things that has happened in my life. I’ve worked very hard,” said Murphy. “Coach Brookshire has pushed me every day. My teammates have pushed me every day, and I’m just very excited. I started playing when I was 6 years old in the Termite league. I was just 5’4” tall. My parents are extremely happy. They have helped me with the choice, and North Greenville felt like home to me.”

Hunter’s parents, Chad and Ondrea Murphy, are justly happy.

“I’m proud of him. He’s a great kid,” said Chad Murphy.

“He’s never given us any trouble,” Ondrea Murphy, who works for the Maggie Valley Police Department, added. “He’s got a great work ethic. “

“It’s a great day for us. We couldn’t be more blessed. The good Lord above has blessed us more than we could ever imagine,” Chad Murphy said.

The now 6’3”, 230-pound lineman will be preparing for the Crusaders’ Sept. 4 home opener against Limestone University.
