The Maggie Valley Women’s Golf Association (MVWGA) started the 2019 season with a record 32 members.

Tournaments kept the league active. On June 20 and 25 the women’s league held the Handicap Tournament with first Low Net winner, Susan Cowley, with a two-day score of 130; second Low Net Winner, Deb Simpson, with a score of 131 and third Low Net Winner, Linda Flahardy, with a score of 138. Closest to the pin winners were Midge O’Hara No. 9 and Alice Lance No. 1212 on day one and Midge O’Hara No. 7 and Marilyn Reetz No. 15 on day two.

On July 11, the MVWGA hosted “A Garden Tee Partee” Invitational for 60 ladies from 11 different clubs. Five flights produced 15 winning teams; first Low Gross, first Low Net and second Low Net per flight. Plenty of proximity and raffle prizes added to the fun.

The MVWGA Prevost Tournament took place July 24 – 25. The first Low Gross winner was Teresa Prestwood; first Low Net winner was Marilyn Reetz and the second Low Net Winner was Linda Flahardy. Closest to the pin on Wednesday was Teresa Prestwood No. 9 and Geri Klemm No. 12. Closest to the pin Thursday was Alice Queen No. 7 and No. 15.

The final tournament of the season, the Ladies Club Championship, was held Aug. 20 and 22. Linda Flahardy won first Low Gross with a two-day score of 181. Teresa Prestwood won second Low Gross, with a score of 185. The first Low Net winner was Midge O’Hara with a two-day score of 137, and the second Low Net winner was Bev Pickens, with a score of 138. Closest to the Pin winners were Linda Flahardy on Hole No. 7 and No. 9, Peggy Arnold on Hole No. 12 and Alice Queen on Hole No. 15.
