The Pisgah JV Bears ended a 20-game winning streak Wednesday night in Canton, losing to Charlotte Christian 21-20.
Charlotte Christian’s Alex Rosen scored the night’s first touchdown with 20 seconds left in the first quarter. Benjamin Shropshire’s extra point was good and the Knights led 7-0.
Cade Nicholson scored for the Knights in the second quarter and with the PAT by Shropshire, the Knights led 14-0.
Logan Free scored Pisgah’s first touchdown with 7:11 left in the second quarter and then holder Jackson Holland passed to Drew Timms for the two-point conversion. The Knights were ahead 14-8 when Ethan Bumgarner sacked the Knights’ quarterback and took the ball in for the touchdown. The two-point attempt was no good and the score was tied 14-14 at the half.
With 6:45 left in the third quarter, Charlotte Christian’s Jakeman Pendleton scored a touchdown, followed by the extra point by Shropshire, resulting in a 21-14 lead for the Knights at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Donovan Hunsucker grabbed an interception for the Bears. Pisgah’s Logan Free scored his second touchdown of the night with 3:32 left in the fourth quarter, but the two-point conversion attempt was no good and Pisgah ended the game with a one-point loss. The JV Bears will be at home next Thursday against East Rutherford with a 7 p.m. start.
