“Space… remember your space,” was often heard from Tuscola’s football coaches, during strength and conditioning training.

Under the guidance of head coach Chris Brookshire, the coaches, staff, team managers and athletes of Tuscola’s football program have taken the stringent guidelines and effectively made a “playbook” that implements and meets NCHSAA Phase one guidelines.

Keeping temperature data on all athletes daily before they step out of their vehicle is just the beginning. The social distancing requirement is met by maintaining 8 1/2 feet of space between stations in their strength training.

Outdoor groups are limited to 25 or fewer. Also, as required by the guidelines, sanitizing of the equipment takes place between athletes and groups. And finally, athletes have staggered entrance times and are grouped together by year in school (seniors 7:30, juniors 8, etc.). The football program does this…every single day.
