In lieu of the 2020 Senior Games State Finals being held in person, North Carolina Senior Games hosted virtual finals.

Participants were asked to compete in their desired events from home, or from their local park or pool.

Each event consisted of a series of skill tests or time trials and the results would be measured against other participants in the state.

Dan Fowler, Betty Henderson and Tim Winslow represented Haywood County and all medaled in their respective events and age groups.

Fowler finished first in corn hole while Henderson chipped her way to second in golf.

Winslow placed fourth in the 50 yard backstroke, third in the 50 yard freestyle, second in the 50 yard butterfly and first in the 100 yard backstroke.

“The Haywood County Senior Games is very proud of these participants and their accomplishments this fall,” said Ian Smith, assistant director of Haywood County Parks and Recreation Department.
