Haywood Regional Medical Center and Haywood Sports Medicine will host its annual free sports physicals for local middle and high school student-athletes on May 18 and 27.
To ensure all COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed, schools will be assigned a designated date and time for their students to attend. Insurance is not required.
Physicals for Bethel Middle School and Canton Middle School will take place on Tuesday, May 18 at the Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center at 75 Leroy George Drive in Clyde.
Bethel Middle School students may drop in from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Canton Middle School students may drop in from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Physicals for Tuscola High School and Waynesville Middle School will be held on Thursday, May 27 at Tuscola High School gymnasium at 564 Tuscola School Road.
Tuscola students may drop in from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Waynesville Middle School students may drop in from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Rising sixth-grade student-athletes seeking a sports physical will need to attend during the date and time assigned to the representing school they plan to attend in the coming school year.
In order to receive their physicals, participants must complete and bring all required forms with them. All forms must be signed by each students’ parents. No physicals will be performed without the necessary signed paperwork.
Appointments are not necessary. Students just need to show up during their school’s designated day and time to receive their exams. All physicals will be performed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Any student-athlete that does not participate in this free event will have to consult their primary care physician or pediatrician to obtain their sports physical evaluation.
