A free family fishing clinic will be held at the Mountain Research Station, in Waynesville from 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, July 16.

The event is being hosted by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission to introduce kids to fishing. The pond at the test farm will be generously stocked with catfish for the session.

Bait, fishing poles and instruction will be provided, but bring a cooler if you want to take your fish home.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required to ensure adequate supplies. Email tanya.poole@ncwildlife.org or call 828-329-3472.

An additional fishing clinics will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7.
