Friends of the Smokies will lead a 7.5-mile hike in Cataloochee Valley on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The Boogerman Loop hike hits all the high points of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
It passes through old growth forest, has more than a dozen streaming crosses on log footbridges and is laced with history of early settlers.
The hike is part of the Classic Hikes of the Smokies series, which support restoration and rehabilitation of some of the Smokies most impacted trails through the Trails Forever program.
Individual hikes are $20 for current Friends of the Smokies members and $35 for new and renewing members. The hikes always fill up, so reserve a spot soon by going to Hike.FriendsOfTheSmokies.org.
