A 13-week online Carolina Backyard Naturalist program is being offered by the N.C. Cooperative Extension, allowing members of the public to learn more about the state’s ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental conservation.
The program will be offered online via Zoom every Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. starting Sept. 15.
Topics include mammals, botany, bird ID and conservation, entomology, plant ecosystems, ecology, climate change, invasive species and more.
Each week features different speakers, including professors, scientists, wildlife commission biologists and cooperative extension agents.
The program is aimed at improving residents’ understanding of their natural environment to encourage its protection and conservation.
