PRIME BIRDING — Lake Junaluska is a destination for migratory birds overwintering.

Take a jaunt around Lake Junaluska with these birding aficionados and you’ll never see the world quite the same again.

Lake Junaluska is a prime location for migratory birds that over winter here, especially water fowl. Take advantage of the primetime birding with two guided birding tours hosted by Haywood County Recreation this month.

A birding sessions will be held on January 19 with guide Kevin Burke and January 29 with guide Howard Browers.

Groups will meet at 9 a.m. Cost is $10 per participant. Loaner binoculars available for use. To reserve your spot, call 828-452-6789.

The birding outings are intended to educate and inspire the public about the multitude of bird populations that thrive in Haywood County, while providing a better appreciation for nature and its inhabitants.
