Sam Marshall with the Haywood Cooperative Extension has become a horticulture rockstar on Zoom through his many online gardening and landscaping workshops since the start of the pandemic.

Start dreaming about next year’s planting projects with an online workshop on Landscaping with Native Plants held from 10 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Oct. 28, by the Haywood County Cooperative Extension.

Learn about the importance of native plants and the many great selections that do well in WNC mountain landscapes. The session will also cover backyard ecology and how landscaping with native plants benefits wildlife, including moths and butterflies.

The class will be led by Haywood extension agent Sam Marshal, who’s become something of a Zoom horticulture rockstar since the extension began hosting online courses at the beginning of the pandemic.

The class is part of the Haywood Cooperative Extension’s “Gardener: Learn to Grow” series. Cost is $10. Deadline to sign up is Oct. 25. Go to haywood.ces.ncsu.edu or call 828-456-3575 for help.
