Thanks for electric chargers

To the editor:

This Thanksgiving season I would like to recognize and thank the towns of Maggie Valley, Sylva and Dillsboro and Ingles Markets for providing electric vehicle chargers.

Your EV chargers are great incentives for attracting EV car owners like myself to come and do business in your towns and stores while we charge our cars. As a loyal patron, I appreciate your initiative and look forward to many more visits.

Fix the streets

To the editor:

I am a Haywood County native from Maggie Valley but I have a question for downtown Waynesville.

I got my driving license at 16 in Haywood County and have driven most of the roads in the county. And for 50 plus years, I have driven down Main St in Waynesville and the same bumps, rumble pavement are always there.

I have seen the sidewalks repaired and even replaced. And some landscaping in places that did not seem necessary.

With the downtown inviting more tourists to shop on Main Street, why then can the street not be repaired or even better be resurfaced so that it doesn’t feel like you are driving on a railroad track?

Take an interest in county governance

To the editor:

In the near future, the county will decide where to place a new school administration building. The design stage will follow and ultimately a contract for construction will be awarded.

A price tag of $12 million plus has been discussed. The need definitely exists. However, the excesses of the pet shelter do not need to be repeated.

It is time for all taxpayers to express an interest in our county. To say attendance at commission meetings is sparse would be an understatement.

Attend the meetings, express your interests, and show your concern. After all, our futures are at stake and it is our money that is being spent.
