With Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on Saturday this year, it has created an impossible delivery schedule for our print readers. Most of our routes are delivered in the mail and the Postal Service will be closed for both holidays.

Fortunately, our website has updated Haywood County news around the clock, seven days a week. For the next two weekends, we will be relying on our digital presence to provide our readers with their current news.

Subscribers will still receive their Wednesday editions on Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, but the news offered in the weekend editions for the next two weeks will only be available online.

As always, stories will be regularly posted on The Mountaineer website, our email newsletter will not miss a beat and our social media presence will continue uninterrupted.

And keep in mind, at only $8 per month, The Mountaineer would be a great Christmas gift idea for someone special on your list. The price is right, and the knowledge to be gained can be invaluable.

For our readers who prefer The Mountaineer in print, we realize that getting the news on your cell phone, tablet or computer instead of in the mail may not be your first choice, but do remember another option exists.

Simply sign in to the website, enter your email address and password, and the latest news will be at your fingertips.

There is a “forgot password” option if it has been a while since you logged in. If you have trouble, just call the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. Our office will be closed on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

Meanwhile, we will be ending the year with a bang, bringing you all the special holiday stories you’ve come to love, our year in review and an overview of the top stories of 2021.

You’ll not want to miss a single thing, so when you are looking for some entertaining reading this holiday, kick your shoes off, find a comfortable chair and read The Mountaineer to find out what’s happening in Haywood County.
