Wynford Gene “Wynn” Bodford, 79, of Waynesville, North Carolina, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

Wynn was born in Yancey County, North Carolina, on Nov. 15, 1941, to the late Earl Bodford and Kansas Julie McMahon Bodford. He earned a paint and body diploma from Haywood Tech.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 until 1964. He was a member of VFW and American Legion of Waynesville. Wynn loved cars and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Scott Bodford; and a daughter, Wendi Jean Bodford.

Survivors include two sons, Wynford Tyson Bodford of Waynesville and Wynford Scott Bodford of Ventura, California; and his grandchildren, Travis, Alexandra, and Briana Wynn Bodford.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ashevillemortuaryservices.com.
