CLYDE — Wayne Carroll Pressley, 80, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Rufus Jennings Pressley and Geneva Watson Pressley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Wayne retired from Thriftee Discount Store as a supervisor.

He was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. He documented weather statistics and always had an itinerary for the trips that he took. Wayne will be most remembered for his honesty and always being there for his wife, Jackie and son, Eric. Wayne was always there for his son, Eric, not a day went by that he and Eric didn’t talk. That daily call will be an everlasting hole in Eric’s heart.

Wayne struggled most of his life with a lung disease. His determination to live and be a great father and husband was a driving force to keep him from giving up.

He was the kind of man that could take anything apart and make it better. His attention to detail could be found in everything he touched, including the direction he mowed his lawn. Wayne’s handyman skills will be greatly missed. He always enjoyed helping others. His word was as good as his signature.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie Warren Pressley; son, Eric Pressley (Anne), of Charlotte; grandson, Justin (Sara), of Tampa, Florida; and nieces and nephews that were like his own.

No formal services are planned at this time.
