BEtHEL — Tommy Alfred Haney, 78, died on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Tommy was born in Haywood County on Nov. 20, 1940, to the late Fred and Birdell Mills Haney. He enjoyed deer hunting, bear hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and all types of sports. Tommy retired from Champion after 25 years of faithful service.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Haney; and brother, Ken Haney.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Chambers Haney; son, Mike Haney (Tammy); daughters, Lynn Nelson (Ronnie) and Sherry Woody (Anthony); brother, Steve Haney; grandchildren, Tommy Haney (Lauren), Ashleigh Nelson, Meagan Beck (Tyler), Chris Nelson, Jesse, Amanda, Amber, Zackary, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Trey, Abbigail, Brayden, Auburn, Emma, Ellie, and Cash.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 14, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations and at other times at the residence.
