WAYNESVILLE — Tommy Joseph Meyer, 90, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at NC State Veterans Home.
A native of Indiana, he had resided in Haywood County for the last 45 years. He was a son of the late Sylvanus and Eva Yohe Meyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Virginia Meyer, who died in 2010 and a daughter Candace Meyer.
TJ proudly served his country as Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked with General Motors as superintendent of the Guide Lamp Division. TJ was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks Club,. He loved to travel and scuba dive. He enjoyed entertaining folks at his home.
TJ is survived by two sons, Joe and Chris Meyer; sister, Barbara Utterback; five grandchildren, Colaina Hobbs, Shelby, Erin, Hanna and Austin Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Ava Griffin; and niece, Debbie Minnick.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held Green Hill Cemetery, Veterans Section.
The care of Mr. Meyer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
