CANTON – Roy Ray Clontz, 87, passed at his home in Canton on Feb. 3, 2019.
Roy was a lifelong native of Haywood County, worked as a residential carpenter for over 40 years and a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Roy was a lifelong fisherman who loved every bit of the outdoors; hunting, mowing and gardening, and his fishing buddies James, Hugh and Nic.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Donnie Belinda Clontz, who passed in 2017; parents, Hasque and Ada Mae Clontz; brothers, Bud, Albert and Ellis Clontz and brothers-in-law, Bob Henson, Donald Underwood and Lewis Worley.
He is survived by daughters, Darlene (James) Knight, Maggie Valley and Christy Clontz, who resided with dad; brother, Russell Clontz; sisters, Agnes Henson, Evelyn Underwood and Dorothy Worley; granddaughter, Pam Knight (Charles) Teague; great-grandson, Nicholas Teague and sisters-in-law, Louise and Joan Clontz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Center Pigeon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Heath Davis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m.
Full military burial rites will follow services at Center Pigeon Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Phillip Clontz, Eric, Daniel and Mark Worley and Anthony James, and his honorary pallbearer will be Nic Teague.
