CANTON — Freda Rose Conn Hampton, 78, a beautiful lady who had devoted her life to her family and was dedicated to always caring for others, entered into her heavenly home on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019.
Rose was born June 16, 1941, in Mingo County, West Virginia to the late Cletis Conn and the late Sarah Jane Kirk Conn.
She had formerly resided in Blair, West Virginia, before making her home in Canton for the past 26 years. Mrs. Hampton chose the field of nursing for her life career as a registered nurse where she touched the lives of many who will never ever forget her kindness and caring spirit.
She was employed in many different aspects of the nursing profession and her last nursing position was with the Brian Center in Waynesville, where in her later years Mrs. Hampton became a patient and was cared for until her passing.
Rose held a strong faith, and she was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church in Canton. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her love, wisdom and guidance have truly taught her family life lessons that they shall never forget. In the words of her beloved family, “She was the best Mommy in the world.” We give thanks for the blessed life of Rose Hampton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara; a brother, Cletis Conn Jr.; brothers-in-law, Gene West and Arvin Chambers.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 48 years, Glenn Hampton of Canton; her children, Tracie Shundoff Rich and Troy of Canton, Boris Shundoff and Kimberly of Summerville, South Carolina, Teresa Shundoff Zielaznicki and Karen of Summerville, SSouth Carolina and Trisha Shundoff Aleshire and Howard of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Bobby McNeely and Hope, Billy McNeely, Amber Shundoff, TJ Purcell and Ashley, Barry McNeely, Aleisha Shundoff, Khyrstyne Rose Williams, Brett Glenn McNeely, Ronald Michael Zielaznicki and Jenna, Howard “Howie” Aleshire, Morgan Rich, Christian Purcell, Jacob Berry, Alivia Rich, and Benjamin “Ben” Berry; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence and Ron Welch of Wyandotte, Michigan, Audrey West of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Patricia “Trish” Chambers of Hewett, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Judy Conn of Woodhaven, Michigan; many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hampton will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Rocky Face Baptist Church. Pastor Donnie Henson will be officiating.
The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. Burial will in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
