CANTON — Robert “Bobby” Hyde, 68, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Bob James and Dorothy Hensley Hyde. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy June Lunsford.
Bobby proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and then worked for 25 years as a truck driver for FedEx. Some of his favorite activities were fishing, collecting guns, and looking for good finds at yard sales.
Bobby is survived by his wife of eight years, Wanda McCall Hyde; his daughter, Shelby Poteat; stepchildren, Stephanie (Mike) Ostrander, Ben (Mary) Jones, Johnny (Dawn) Jones, Terry (Carolyn) Jones, Bobby (Betty) Jones, Justin (Sherry) McCall; two brothers, Charles Hyde and Andy Hyde; special grandchildren, Natasha (Tracy) Allen and Josh (Heather) Meece; favorite aunt, Susan Kirkpatrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Cruso United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from noon. until 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
