CANTON — Molly Kate Henson, 16, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.
A native of Haywood County, Molly is the daughter of Nicole Trull and Darrel G. Henson. Molly was an engaging and social teenager at Pisgah High School.
As a junior in high school, Molly had participated in a variety of team sports over her lifetime, i.e., softball, volleyball, and basketball. Her passion for sports began as a young statistician for her sister’s travel softball team. Molly was front and center in the stands keeping track of all the hits and runs for the team.
She had both a passion and an intense sense of empathy for all of God’s creatures, and her smile would melt your heart. If you ask her what she preferred to eat, it was mom or dad’s biscuits and gravy.
Molly enjoyed the simple things in life, a beautiful sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway or a breathtaking sunrise in Dutch Cove, the stars on a clear night. She was also a talented artist and baker. Her cupcakes were amazing, and she blessed countless patrons with her employment at Blimpies. When she needed some sister time, Molly would travel to Knoxville and shop until her heart was content. One of Molly’s most memorable features was her smile; it would light up the room. She was a talented, sassy, loving, charismatic, sweet child of God and will be forever missed.
Along with her parents, Molly is survived by her sister, Morgan Henson (Michael Pressley), of Knoxville, maternal grandparents, grandfather, Lloyd Trull and grandmother, Christine Schlageter; beloved family friends, Dean and Sandra Pressley, along with countless loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Pisgah Memorial Stadium with the Revs. Jason Miller and Dr. Roy Kilby officiating.
The care of Molly has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.
