BUNN, North Carolina — Mary Elizabeth Riggan Lovin formerly of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Feb. 9, 1953, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of William H. Riggan, Jr. and Marie Riggan formerly of Waynesville. She was preceded in death by her father, mother; brothers, Jerry Riggan and Bobby Riggan.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Lovin of the home and her two daughters, Jennifer Lovin and Melanie Lovin. A step-mother, Dorothy Riggan along with a brother Bill Riggan and wife, Vickie; sister, Patricia Riggan.

Mary was a 30 year employee of the State of North Carolina having worked with the National Guard, N.C. Department of Public Instruction and the Governors Office. She retired in 2010 and was conferred the prestigious “Order of the Long Leaf Pine” by Governor Beverly Perdue.
