WAYNESVILLE — Margaret M. “Peggy” Hannon, 88, passed away on, Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
Born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan on June 12, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Lionel N. and Margaret C. Backman Hyde. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Marilyn M. Hannon; and two brothers, Robert J. Hyde, and Louis Hyde.
Peggy worked as a bookkeeper most of her life until retirement and enjoyed traveling working as a part-time travel agent. She loved her family unconditionally. You could always catch her with a big smile on her face and laughing.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Kuhlman (Tony), of Grand Ledge, Michigan; son, Michael J. Hannon of Maggie Valley; granddaughter, Kristine Kinnett (Matt), of Lakeland, Florida; grandson, Daniel Kuhlman, of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Buddy and Ansley, of Lakeland Florida.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Diean Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1–1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Due to COVID-19, all protocols and mandates are requested to be followed, including mask. The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Mrs. Hannon’s obituary on Wells Funeral Home website to facilitate the ongoing focus on community safety and health.
