CANTON — Linda Henderson Hembree, age 69, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019.
Linda was born Jan. 2, 1950, to the late Hubert Henderson and the late Carrie Ball Henderson. A native of Haywood County, she had resided most of her life in Salem, South Carolina, before making her home in Canton in 2018.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James “Jack” Hembree; a son, Michael Hembree; an infant grandson, Robert James Hunter; three brothers, Roy and Bobby Henderson, and James who passed away as an infant.
Mrs. Hembree was a dedicated homemaker and devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She has been an example for each of us to follow and we have been taught many life lessons by having her as our mother. “We are each who we are because of her.” We give thanks for the life she lived and the blessings she brought to each of us.
She is survived by two sons, Burton Hembree (Renée Lewis), and Allen Hembree both of Salem, South Carolina, two daughters, Debora Henson (Roger) of Canton, and Tammy Crenshaw (Sammy) of Salem, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren blessings on the way. Also surviving is a brother, A.J. Henderson (Joyce) of Townville, South Carolina, and a sister, Rebecca Adams (George) of Seneca, South Carolina, .
Visitation will be held at Crawford/Ray Funeral Home in Canton, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
The funeral will be held at Mt. Carmel #2 Baptist Church in Salem, South Carolina, of which she was a member, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. Pastor Frankie Porter will be officiating. The family will also be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
