WAYNESVILLE — Joseph D. Curran, 82, of the Plott Creek community, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Elizabeth House in Hendersonville.
Joe retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service to his country. Upon moving to Haywood County in 1987, Joe worked for Kmart and retired from there after 18 years of service.
He was also an active member of Tri-County Shrine Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Nicholas.
Joe is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cindy; three sons, Kevin and his wife Teddie Jo of Vero Beach, Florida, Guy of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Jeremy and his wife Carmen of Waynesville; two daughters, Kim of Fletcher and Dawn of Jacksonville, Florida; a special daughter/sister-in-law Jenny and her husband Buddy of Franklin; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, July 29, at Smoky Mountain Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. Full military honors will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
