LEICESTER — Jerry Thomas Duncan, 80, entered into his eternal heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.

Mr. Duncan was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Buncombe County to the late Everette Duncan and the late Willa Sampson Duncan.

He had been employed as a truck driver with Overnite Transportation Company and had also worked as a groundskeeper for Appalachian Hall in Asheville for 17 dedicated years.

Jerry was a true outdoorsman. He could often be found fly fishing in his favorite mountain streams or going deer hunting in the mountains that he loved. Jerry had a wonderful personality and his fun practical jokes will always been remembered by his friends and family.

He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and his favorite vacation was spending time at the beach. Jerry was a friend to everyone and he has been a blessing in our lives. He shall be forever missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gayle Duncan who passed away in 2015; his sisters, Alice and JoAnne and brothers, Raymond and Cecil.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Andrea Mills and her husband, Clifton of Leicester and Eric Kent Duncan of Leicester.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Historic Grove Church located at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.

Pastor Brian Rhodarmer and Pastor Darrell Woody will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made in Mr. Duncan’s memory to the Leicester Volunteer Fire Department, 2852 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, NC 28748 or CarePartners Hospice, John F. Keever Solace Center, 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
