WAYNESVILLE — Guy Davis, 89, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Aug. 21, 1930, to the late Newton Hilliard and Ethel Jordan Davis.
Guy was instrumental in the bull dozing of the incline at Ghost Town In The Sky in 1959. He retired from Dayco in the Textiles Department following 18 years of service. He was a charter member of Grandview Baptist Church.
A special passion in his life was spending time with his family. On the mountain behind his home, Guy built a small one room log cabin with a loft and fireplace that he was proud of and enjoyed spending his time at.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Eugene Davis; and sisters, Peggy Davis and Patricia Davis.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 72 years, Jessie Jones Davis; two sons, Jeff Davis and wife, Renee and Leonard Davis and wife, Becky; four grandchildren, Judy Hickman and husband, Willy, Joni Elkins and husband, Michael, Allegra Davis, and Tiffany Davis; eight great grandchildren, Aneissa, Phoebe, Tage, Kolten, Nevaeh, Karina, Khiyah, and Jade; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Grandview Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Willett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, at Garrett Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Buchanan Cemetery.
