CANTON — Freida Gail Trull Babb, 71, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, Freida was the youngest of eight children of the late Clarence M. Trull and the late Thelma Greene Trull. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Dailey, and Muriel Carver; and two brothers, Clarence Trull, Jr., and Charles Trull.

Freida attended Pisgah High School for much of her high school years and graduated from Bethel High School. She was employed in the land records department of the Haywood County Courthouse for many dedicated years, and her exceptional kindness was appreciated by those whom she assisted. Mrs. Babb was a very generous person and was well-loved by all who knew her.

Freida’s outgoing personality attracted friendships which she cherished dearly, and she made sure to never let anyone she had just met leave as a stranger. She enjoyed playing cards with her close friends, and loved the camping trips she took with her husband at Mountain Shadows Campground every summer.

Mrs. Babb was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and her faith remained an important part of her life every day.

Surviving are her faithful and loving husband of 45 years, James. M. Babb; sisters, Nancy Cagle (Gudger) of Hidden Valley, and Marianne Smith of Greenville, NC; brother, Benjamin Trull of Burnette Cove; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Woody Sanford, Doris McCall, Barbara Smathers, Lib Bryson, and the ladies at Crestview Baptist Church.

A funeral service to honor and remember the life of Freida will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
