JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Erna Koza, 99, passed away on Dec. 29, 2020, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Erna was a long-time past resident of the Jonathan Creek community. After leaving Haywood County, she moved to Clemson. South Carolina, and later to Jacksonville, Florida.
Erna was the 11th of 12 children born in Rockdale, Illinois, to Frank and Mary (Jackopich) Saye. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Koza, her son, Joseph Koza, Jr., her sisters Mary Saye, Molly Saye, Vida Fink, Bernice Yadlosky, Rose Knowles, and Agnes Knowles, and her brothers John, Frank, Joseph, Willard, and Edward Saye.
She is survived by her son Paul Koza of Jacksonville, two grandchildren, Joseph Koza III of Marietta, Georgia, and Kate Koza of Brooklyn, New York, and two great-grandchildren, Lee Rose and Carter Koza of Marietta, Georgia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral arrangements will be made by Naugle Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Florida. Internment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Joliet, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to United Way of Northeast Florida.
