CLYDE — During the evening hours of Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, Dewey Leon Teague, 89, was called to his Heavenly home by his Lord and Savior. The room was filled with great peace and also the loving presence of his beloved wife, Louise, as he entered into his place of glory.
Leon was born May 5, 1931, to the late Melvin Teague and the late Ethel Jenkins Teague. He was a lifelong native of Haywood County and retired from with Champion International Paper with 36 years of dedicated service. Mr. Teague was a devout Christian and was a member of Lake Junaluska First Baptist Church.
Reading and studying his Bible was an important part of his life and he faithfully read the entire Bible each year. What a blessing to know Leon; he was a man with a kind and caring spirit and everyone that he knew or that became acquainted with him treasured his friendship.
He enjoyed farming his land and his passion of restoring his 1941 Chevrolet truck brought him much joy. He and his lovely wife, Louise loved camping at Myrtle Beach during the summer season and these happy memories were treasured forever by both of them.
They also had spent time traveling all across the United States, visiting 49 states and also visiting Canada. Leon held great pride and love in his heart for all of his family and he will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, great–grandfather, a special brother and a true friend. We rejoice and give thanks for his life and for what he has meant to so many throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Teague was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Gail Teague.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Louise Green Teague who together they shared 70 years of wonderful marriage; his sons, Michael Gene Teague and his wife, Catherine and Ronald Dean Teague and his wife, Susan; a sister, Doris Burnette; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two-step-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care of Waynesville for their kindness and care provided to Mr. Teague.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The Rev. David Trull will be officiating.
