Delma Sue Caldwell, 83, of Waynesville, passed away at her home on April 26, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter W. and Celia J. Massie Russell; sons, Darren Reece and Steve Reece; sisters, Irene Smathers, Florence Russell, and Ruth Caldwell; brothers, Mark Russell, Walter Russell, Jr., Billy V. Russell, and Bobby Ray Russell.

Delma is survived by her son, Doug Reece; four grandchildren; sisters, Shelby Moore and Doris Hall; brother, Sam (Ruth) Russell; her cat Marley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In her younger years, Delma loved to plant flowers, had a “green thumb”, and could grow just about anything. She was a wonderful cook. If you ever visited her, you could not leave unless she gave you something to take with you. Delma had a good and loving heart and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Many thanks to Shelby Moore and Wendy Dillard who stuck by Delma and took care of her through her sickness.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haywood County EMS.

Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Clyde is caring for the family and the online register is available at
