CANTON — Dakota “Cody” Blake O’Neal, 29, a special young man who was deeply loved and will forever be missed passed away Monday, November 16, 2020.
Dakota was born in Haywood County on Nov. 25, 1990. He had been employed with Asplundh Tree Service as a bucket operator and Dakota truly loved his job and was blessed with a multitude of good and true friends.
Cody’s life was filled with days spending time at the river fishing and having fun tubing in the water. He also enjoyed riding his dirt bike and it was a true delight to watch him ride.
Most importantly, Dakota’s heart was filled with great love and pride for his son, Ayden – he was his world. Also the wonderful loving bond between Dakota and his mother, Paula, was indeed a blessing to both of them and the closeness that they held will forever be remembered and cherished. Dakota loved his family with all of his heart and soul and his memory will be with all of us forever.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Paula and Mickey O’Neal, his son, Ayden O’Neal; a sister Pamela O’Neal; a brother, Brandon O’Neal; an uncle, Roger Putnam; a cousin that he loved and called his aunt, Rhonda Gibson; a nephew, John Henry; nieces, Paislee O’Neal and Cheynne Henry; a cousin; Dale Putnam; his girlfriend, Cortney Eckhoff; a special friend that Dakota looked up to as a big brother, Billy Singleton
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Putnam, Storm Peters, Seth Peters, Billy Singleton, Daniel Sorrells and Steve Buchanan. In keeping with the COVID-19 regulations visitation and funeral attendance will be limited to 50 guests and we kindly ask that face masks be worn and social distancing be observed at all times.
