Cindy Lou Latham

CLYDE — A kind and caring lady, Cindy Lou Hill Latham, 67, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Cindy was born June 4, 1953 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Jeff Ellis Hill, Sr. and the late Irene Haire Hill, and was blessed to have been raised in a large family with several brothers and sisters. She had made her home in Clyde, North Carolina since 1978 and retired from the Haywood County School System in 2009 where she touched the lives of multitudes of children while working as a teacher assistant.

Cindy adored children and she truly was an example of someone who cared about her students and always encouraged them to strive to be the best that they could be.

She was a very talented artisan and enjoyed making all types of beautiful handmade crafts. Her flower garden brought her great joy and Cindy spent endless hours working among her plants and flowers. The love she held in her heart for her family was immeasurable and her greatest achievement in life was being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cindy truly dedicated her life to her family. Her life’s journey has blessed so many and we give thanks and rejoice for her loving presence on this earth. We will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Gary Latham of Clyde; her children, Gary Latham and Darla of Candler, Malissa Adams of Lexington, and Andrea Stanley and Peter of Clyde; her grandchildren, Dewayne, Whitney, Hannah, Sarah, Casey, Samantha, Pearson, Brennan, Steven, and Cooper; her great-grandchildren, Carter and Ayden; her special niece, Sheila Hunter; special friends that Cindy loved like her own children, Tammy and Eddie Maney; also her beloved Maltese dog, “Charlie”, and many dear friends.

As we honor the request of Cindy, no formal funeral services will be held.

Memorials in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
