CANTON — Chris Mathews, 49, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garrett Mathews and one brother, Harlin Mathews.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Cricket; his two daughters, Alisha “Nicki” Mathews and Shandy Mathews and her husband Michael Metcalf; one son, Allan Rathbone; mother, Alice Mathews; four brothers, Jeff Wall, who was his best friend, Clark, Mac and David Mathews; four sisters Rita Fritz and her husband Gary, Rhonda Johnson, Anita Logan and Adrianne Ruege, along with one granddaughter, Kadence Mathews and one grandson, Corbin, who was his best buddy; along with multiple extended family and friends
Chris was a jack of all trades and a carpenter who loved his job in residential and commercial construction. He was a hard worker who always had something to complete. Chris cherished his time immensely with his family, especially his grandchildren, playing at the park, hanging out fixing cars, making a garden or just plain fixing things. He enjoyed traveling with his wife out west and riding the roads on anything that had wheels. Chris was one in a million and always had God in his heart.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
