Bobbie Covington Whitaker, 82, passed away on Dec. 29, 2020, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Lee Covington in 1970, and second husband, Ralph P. Whitaker in 1997. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lynnie Covington; two sisters, Doshia Buchanan and Lizzie Beasley; and four brothers, Ernest Justice, Jack Justice, Kenneth Earl Parks and Jerry Parks.
Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Tempest (Pat) of Clovis, New Mexico, and Jackie Burris (Erich) of White Oak; son, Barry Covington (Janet) of Hendersonville; sisters, Irene Hill of Waynesville, Judy Mathews (Harold) of Canton, Hilda Ewart and Grovene Presnell both of Waynesville and grandchildren, Leon Tempest of Irmo, South Carolina, Thomas Belcher (Sarah) of Germany and Meredith Belcher of Atlanta.
She was a member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The Revs. Brian Byrd and Larry Colling officiated. Mrs. Whitaker lied in state from 1 until 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
