CANTON — William Arthur “Bill” Sawyer, 75, formerly a resident of Fletcher, passed away on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center in Woodfin.
He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late James and Elsie Sawyer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Sawyer Williams and a brother, James Harvey Sawyer.
Bill retired from Eaton Electrical Corporation in 2005 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam. In his retirement years, Bill enjoyed playing golf with his friends as well as fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Terri Lynn Fowler and husband, Scott, of Holly Springs; two grandchildren, Seth and Delani Fowler; a sister, Barbara Rhinehart of Canton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with military honors. Officiating will be the Rev. Harry Worley. The family will receive friends following the service.
