CLYDE — Betty Best, 88, of the Crabtree community passed away at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Kinsland and Ethel Arrington; one son, Gary Alan Best; her brother, Wilfred Kinsland and a Grandson, Bruce Allen Holder.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Hilary) Cobb and Joan (Julius) Passmore all of Clyde; three grandchildren, Andrea Emerson, Laurel and Michael Cobb; two great-grandchildren, Addyson and Lincoln Emerson along with all of her church family.
Betty was a wonderful Granny. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible and the daily devotionals. In Betty’s spare time, she enjoyed reading, feeding and watching the birds, shopping and gardening.
After 17 years of service, Betty retired from Haywood Regional Medical Center as a licensed registered nurse. She had always enjoyed being in the medical field.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residence at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as well as Dr. James Weaver, for all the love, support and care shown to Mrs. Betty and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Betty’s name to the Crabtree Baptist Church, 480 Crabtree Church Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
