NORMAN, Oklahoma — Barbara “Annette” Ferguson Best, 81, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Brookhaven Extensive Care in Norman, Oklahoma.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew McKinley Ferguson and Ida Mae McElroy Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Best; three brothers, John, Charles, and Carlyle Ferguson; and three sisters, Sara Lee Green, Bennie Underwood and Betty Moody.
Annette graduated from Crabtree Iron Duff High School and Blanton’s Business College. She traveled with her husband and two children throughout his 20-year service in the Air Force.
In 1970 her husband received orders for Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. They remained there over the next 20 years. Annette loved living in Alaska.
After her retirement from the First National Bank of Anchorage, Elmendorf Branch, she resided in Nobleton, Florida and Norman, Oklahoma.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, serving in her church and traveling with her husband.
Annette is survived by one son, Alan Best (Lydia) of Clyde, one daughter, Lisa Stewart (Ralph) of Norman, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; Shawn Best (Taressa) of Clyde; Jake Stewart (Mallory) and Emma Stewart of Norman, Oklahoma; one great grandchild, Sara Connor (Jonathan) of Clyde, five sisters; Margaret Williams, Helen Davis (Lawrence), Ruth Presnell, Maxine Bradshaw (Jimmy), and Irene Noland (Joe); two sisters-in-law, Claudia Ferguson and Marie Ferguson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Pastor Devere Williams officiating.
