To help clear out inventory, used books are selling for $5 per bag. The Friends of the Library continues to add used books to the sale from other storage areas. The sale will be held for two more weeks on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As the group transitions to its new Used Book Shop opening Oct. 27, it has hundreds of books in the basement of the library that it wants to share them with people. But, due to health and safety restrictions, only 20 people can be in the book sale room at one time.
To ensure a safe sale, anyone wanting to attend must sign up for a specific hourly time slot and purchase a bag to fill for $5. Bags are available at the Waynesville branch library circulation desk.
Walk-ups may be accommodated on the day of the sale only as space allows.
Only two bags per person per day, and the group asks that people limit browsing to no more than 45 minutes. Masks must be worn while in the library and the book sale room — no exceptions.
The bag sale is being held in the lower level of the library, at 678 S. Haywood St., Waynesville.
