The Mountaineer Holiday Challenge has raised more than $7,000 to date to help provide homes for families with children.
In addition, the nonprofit Faces In Need, Inc., has issued a $5,000 challenge grant and will match donations of $500 or more up to its maximum.
The goal on this year’s reader challenge is to raise $50,000 and increase the number of homes where families can be housed from five to 10.

To contribute to The Mountaineer Holiday challenge, simply send a check to the EACH Initiative, Inc. to The Mountaineer, 220 N. Main St., Waynesville, NC 28786. We will print the name and amount of the contributor in the paper and deliver the checks to EACH.
For those who donate to the organization directly, make sure to note the contribution is part of The Mountaineer Holiday Challenge so they can forward the information to the news staff for recognition.
