Usher out the last official day of summer with the Rockin’ Block Party, put on by the Downtown Waynesville Association. Catch a local band perform, eat at your favorite Main Street restaurant and peruse stores open late for the event.
The block party will take over Main Street in downtown Waynesville Saturday, Sept. 18 from 6–10 p.m. The road will be closed to traffic and parking from 5–11 p.m.
Starting out the event will be “Kids on Main” from 6–7 p.m. Local businesses are putting together kid-friendly activities, such as arts and crafts, hula hoops, bubbles, puzzles and more. Face-painting and balloon animals will be offered throughout the event.
Then, live music kicks off at 7 p.m., with three bands:
• Asheville-based Rewind House Band will play at the intersection of Church Street and Main Street on the south end of the block party.
• Acoustic party band The Ol’ Dirty Bathtub will be on the “center stage” at Miller Street.
• R&B outfit Sugah & Thuh Cubes will play on the north end, between Miller and Depot streets.
