Rabies vaccination clinics start Sept. 28

Haywood County is offering rabies vaccination clinics at multiple locations between May 27 and May 31.

Clinics will be held each day 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $9 per vaccination. Pet owners are asked to bring their dogs and cats needing vaccination to one of the following locations.

It is suggested that cats be left inside the vehicle during clinics where the veterinarian will administer the vaccine. A previous rabies vaccination certificate is required for a three-year vaccination.

Canton Middle School, Monday, May 27;

Jonathan Valley School, Tuesday, May 28;

Waynesville Middle School, Wednesday, May 29;

Bethel Elementary School, Thursday, May 30

Riverbend School, Friday May 31.

The veterinarians will also offer a $9 vaccination in their office during clinic days. Participating veterinary clinics include Canton Animal Hospital, Junaluska Animal Hospital, Balsam Animal Hospital, Animal Hospital of Waynesville and Maple Tree Animal Hospital.

State law requires all dogs, cats and ferrets four months or older must be vaccinated against rabies, and the vaccination must be administered by a licensed veterinarian.
