Sept. 28 armed robbery

SURVEILLANCE PHOTO — This is the man who allegedly committed an armed robbery at the Shell Station on South Main Street in Waynesville.

A Monday morning armed robbery in Waynesville has police looking for a suspect.

Waynesville Police Lt. Tyler Trantham said the robbery of the Shell Station on South Main Street near the Walmart occurred during the early morning hours.

“The subject entered the store and walked around for a little bit then asked for money and presented what the clerk believed to be a weapon,” Trantham said.

At the time, only the clerk was working. Trantham said the clerk was never hurt and that the whole incident was pretty quick.

“[The suspect] presented [the weapon], asked for the money, and left the store without incident,” he said, adding that only cash was taken.

Trantham said he wasn’t sure of the suspect’s direction of travel after leaving the store and added that anyone with any information should contact Det. Evan Davis at 828-456-5363, ext. 2115.
