CANTON — While most have come to terms with the fact that, in just two weeks, Pactiv Evergreen operations in Canton will cease and be drastically curtailed at the Waynesville facility, there is at least one person who is not ready to throw in the towel — N.C. Rep. Mark Pless, R-Bethel.

Mill workers have been draining pipes, shutting down machines, taking boilers offline and dismantling operations for days now. But Pless told the Canton town board Thursday night he doesn’t think it’s too late to convince the company to reverse course.
