As the nation, the state, and even Haywood County are finally gaining an understanding of what must be done to combat the opioid crisis, another drug still has a stranglehold on more people than most realize.

Methamphetamine has been prevalent in Western North Carolina since the mid-2000s, and while the availability and consumption of some other substances have waxed and waned, meth has had a steady supply and customer base for the last decade or so, and countless lives have been ruined.
