A Waynesville man has bonded out of the Haywood County Detention Center after being arrested following an alleged assault on the woman he lives with.
Nathaniel Shane Davis, 24, was arrested last Monday after Waynesville Police responded to a domestic dispute. According to court documents, Davis assaulted and threatened the woman, noting that he struck her “about the face with closed fist,” and “did assault [the victim] and inflict physical injury, difficulty breathing, by strangulation, grabbing her by the throat with his hands.”
In addition, the documents note that he did "intentionally point a gun” at her.
The documents further state that Davis threatened the woman by saying, "If you don’t come talk to me, I’m going to beat you."
In the charging document, the victim claimed he said "He was going to get his gun and pistol whip me and shoot anyone that was around.”
The documents allege that he also threatened to shoot another woman.
Following his arrest, Davis was charged with assault by strangulation, assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female and two counts of communicating threats.
The alleged domestic dispute was not Davis’ first brush with the law. In the past, he has been charged with drug offenses, larcenies, communicating threats and several assaults — including assault on a female, assault inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon.
Davis was released on $3,000 bond.
