A Canton man is in jail for allegedly choking a person with disabilities.
According to court documents, on Nov. 12, David Christian Brown, 28, “did assault and strike [the victim], an individual with a disability, by pushing her to the ground and then placing her in a choke hold,” adding that the choke hold “cut off her air supply resulting in her being unable to breathe.”
Brown was arrested that same day by Haywood County Sheriff’s Deputies and charged with assault on a person with disabilities and assault by strangulation.
The alleged offenses aren’t the first time Brown has been accused of violent crimes. In the past, he has been charged with assaults, including assault on a female, along with drug charges, resisting arrest and malicious conduct by a prisoner.
While Brown was originally held on $100,000 bond, it was lowered to $50,000 on Nov. 18. Brown’s next court date is Dec. 9.
