On June 11, 2019, Leonard “LJ” Green, of Waynesville was arrested by the Waynesville Police Department for solicitation for prostitution and two counts of stalking.
In May of this year, an investigation was initiated after numerous complaints were received regarding the activities and behavior of Green. Numerous women came forward with concerns stating that Green was following them, making lewd and inappropriate comments toward them, and on several occasions offering them money for sex. In addition, several complaints were received from business owners and other concerned citizens about incidents they had witnessed.
These accounts, along with other documented incidents prompted this investigation. On the afternoon of June 11, 2019, Green initiated a conversation with an undercover police officer in the area of Burger King on Russ Ave. During this conversation Green offered to pay the undercover officer to have sex with him. It was at this time that Green was placed under arrest by detectives who were in the area.
In addition, Green was charged with two counts of stalking. These charges stem from interviews and accounts of women who Green had repeatedly followed and engaged in a course of conduct that caused them to fear for their safety.
Both women expressed that they were living in fear and afraid to leave their home because of Green.
After Green was arrested he was placed in the Haywood County Detention Center under a $5,000 secure bond. This case is still under investigation with a potential for additional charges.
The Waynesville Police Department urges anyone who has had an encounter with Green to contact them at 456-5363.
