A Waynesville man has been charged with a felony after allegedly firing a gun into an occupied dwelling.

Max Gene Pressley, 64, was arrested by Haywood County Sheriff’s deputies on March 23 following the offense. Court documents note Pressley fired his Beretta Model 21A .25 caliber pistol into a mobile home in the Jonathan Creek area. No motive is listed.

Pressley has a significant criminal history in Haywood County and has been charged in the past with trespassing, communicating threats, multiple DWIs and multiple assaults, including assault on a female.

Following his most recent arrest, Pressley was charged with one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling. He is being held on $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.
